I understand the frustrations of stolen property, I do. But this is a bit over the top...

1.) The first thing that person did was probably wipe the drive with zeros. 2.) They most likely followed suit with a fresh install of Windows. Probably pirated (already stole the laptop), meaning it's likely not on your serial (as if Microsoft gives a shit). Possibly Linux or OSX86. 3.) The FBI doesn't care. 4.) You would be irresponsible for not backing up/encrypting your own bullshit data of that caliber. 5.) It's a LAPTOP. Federal prison? Not likely. 6.) Transponder? Tracking NICs? Lol.

The big thing in his speech that doesn't make sense is "I am the only person that can tell whether the data on that computer is still on that computer", then he goes on about the thief returning any copies they might have made. If the data is encrypted or hidden in such a way that he doesn't expect *anyone* but himself to even know it's there, why is he worried about copies being made? That, and the thing about Washington, are his big give-aways.

@IamAlwaysRight any nigga with understanding of comps could tell immediatly that his shit was invalid, retarded, and basically just blowing smoke out his ass. If it was me, I'd have been sitting in his class with a shit eatin grin and probably have busted his argument infront of the whole class... if some other person I trusted had the laptop.
aggint4d (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
@IamAlwaysRight he's bluffing. Microsoft won't call you for jack shit. It'll just say you have to buy another license via a pop-up. If he has low-jack on his comp, then yea, his story is valid to a point. However, you remove the hdd from the laptop, install a new 30 dollar hdd, the laptop is brand new. then, just to be a dick, you could mount the original hdd from the laptop into a desktop with no network connection, image the disk, and sell his shit for shits and giggles.

So is this good sir actually bluffing or can he back what he said?
blind51de (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)

Ha, my dad used to try the same crap stories on me when I was five years old. Didn't work then either. What a tool.

@nolifegeeks Are you stupid? Microsoft is headquartered in Redmond Washington. Bill gates if from Seattle Washington. You made the most uninformed, ignorant, unresearched statement I have heard all week. Go watch Pirates of Silicon Valley son. Get an education. Seriously.....jesus that was a dumb thing to say!

This guy is scary. He's behind the current attempt to get newly-enrolling students at UC Berkeley to submit to cheek swabs so he can have access to their DNA to "help them make sound nutritional choices." Yeah, right. I wonder which insurance companies are bidding to obtain this DNA information?
